Aquarium Blue Light On All Night

I also have real plants and the tank was cycled long ago. Just like any freshwater plants you have in your aquarium algaes need light to flourish. It s not very bright either it kind of just has a glow to it. If it matters i have a 40 gallon with three dwarf frogs one betta one bristlenose pleco and six tetras.

My aquarium came with a white day light and a blue night light. Compared to 1st thing in the morning when all fish are settled in there caves arc i darkness. If its an actinic bulb and its a freshwater aquarium you can run it for a couple hours after your main lights turn off. Just as a note i have never left the blue light on all night.

If the blue lights are led s you won t have to worry about algae growth. Monitoring algae levels in the aquarium is therefore a good way to determine how long you should leave the lights on in the tank. Blue light allows the nocturnal fish to be seen doing what they do best when the lights go out. If you leave your tank lights on all day and night you re providing a haven for the organisms to smother your plants decorations and glass with their greenness.

I ve got this one murderous asshole that needs a light on at all time just because i didn t want him to kill the snail. If your aquarium is prone to developing high levels of algae then consider reducing the time you leave the aquarium lights on to 8 hours or less in a day in order to limit algae growth. They are a great addition to any tank as they don t affect the day and night cycle of the fish or plants and don t contribute to the growth of algae. My tanks have a 2 hour blue light faze before the light goes out totaly.

But i am wondering if it s okay aka the same as having the lights fully off. I have heard some say that it s okay and some say its not okay but if the factory made it with the blue night light doesn t that mean that it would be okay for the fish. I don t think i would leave it on permanent as the active fish during the day stay active as well. My fish have some sort of light on all the time unless it s a solitary betta.
